Too busy in December? We get it! Don’t worry, you can register now for appointments in 2019!

If you’re a male aged 18-40 years, you could help scientific research.

Thank you for your interest in this new research study being conducted by the University of Southern QLD and RDC Clinical, into the effectiveness of a new herbal extract for increasing exercise endurance in men.

Are you willing to exercise 4 times a week, for 8 weeks?

If you currently undertake (or have in the recent past) cardio exercise like cycling, swimming or walking, you may be able to help in the study, potentially benefit from the product and gain useful information about yourself from a range of health and fitness tests.

The study will involve attending either of the study sites (Ipswich or Newstead) at the start, half way point and finish of the 8 week study, for a range of health and fitness tests. During the study you’ll be required to perform a prescribed running program at home 4 times a week and take the study treatment in capsule form…you may or may not be taking the active product. 33% of the study group will be taking a placebo (a harmless, inactive substance).

If you’d like to take part in this study, we’d love your help. More information is below and the Eligibility & Registration form is on this page.

About the product you'll help test...a proven natural herbal extract.

The product being studied is a specialised extract of fenugreek. Fenugreek has previously been shown to have a positive impact on testosterone in males and helps to regulate blood sugar, aids digestion & cholesterol. This study is to assess its effectiveness on exercise endurance.

About the study you'll take part in...health & fitness monitoring.

If you qualify for this study, you’ll be enrolled and attend one of the study sites (Ipswich or Newstead) for initial health and fitness tests, including:

  • VO2 Max
  • power analysis and
  • time to exhaustion.

You’ll be asked to complete some health questionnaires, and a blood sample will be taken where a variety of markers will be measured such as cortisol, free fatty acids, live & kidney function and blood glucose.

After this, you will be given the study product to take daily in capsule form and given an exercise program that involves exercising (running) 4 times a week for 8 weeks.

At weeks 4 and 8 of the study, you’ll attend one of the clinics again to complete further fitness tests & questionnaires to track your progress. At week 8 you will also be required to undertake a final blood analysis.

If you’re male aged between 18 and 40 and meet the selection criteria below, you may qualify for help with this study. You can register your interest by answering the questionnaire and completing the form on this page…we’ll then get in touch to screen you for suitability.
