NEW STUDY ANNOUNCEMENT

Omega-3 Study

Do you know that most Australians have low Omega-3 which can lead to inflammation and increased risk of disease?  If you are curious about your Omega-3, you could have a free test and help research a new non-fish derived Omega-3 product.

Check your eligibility here

Due to our western diet, most Australians have low Omega-3 level which contributes to inflammation in the body and a number of serious diseases.

Having higher Omega-3 helps to reduce inflammation in the body and therefore assists in reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, cancer, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

This study is looking to investigate a new non-fish derived product which can help increase Omega-3.

Thank you for your interest in RDC Clinical’s new study, into the effectiveness of a commercially available natural Omega-3 fatty acid, known to play a beneficial role in increasing Omega-3, cholesterol control and may also offer protection against a number of diseases, including cardiovascular disease. To help with this study, we are looking for males and females who wish to increase their Omega-3, who are not currently taking an Omega-3 supplement and who are willing to take the study product in capsule form daily over a 3-month period.

You will receive a valuable health analysis & potentially improve your Omega-3 level.

If you are over 25 and generally healthy, you could help with this study and learn valuable information about yourself in the process.

Following an initial assessment, you will be enrolled, provided with the study product to take and asked to attend our clinic in Newstead, Brisbane, three times over 3 months for follow up tests.

If you would like to take part in this study, we would love your help. More information is below and the Eligibility and Registration form is on this page.

About the product you'll help test...a natural non-fish Omega-3 fatty acid.

This product is a natural Omega-3 fatty acid, commercially available as a dietary supplement in capsule form. The product we are investigating is not derived from fish, instead it is an extract of Algea. Omega-3 essential fats are known to have a beneficial effect on inflammation and cholesterol levels and may also offer protection against a number of diseases including cardiovascular diseases.

Importantly, Omega-3 fatty acids are not naturally produced by our bodies so must be consumed through food or supplements. In addition to people not consuming enough Omega-3, it is also extremely common for people with western diets to consume a greater than optimal level of Omega-6. Omega-6 is found in many manufactured foods including processed seeds and vegetable oils (most fried or packaged items!).

Historically, people with pre-industrial diets had an omega 6:3 of about 4:1. However, today, the ratio is much higher at around 15:1, and much higher than what people are genetically adapted to which is why it leads to a number of chronic inflammatory diseases.

About the study...increasing Omega-3 levels.

If you would like to help with this study, we will ask some screening questions over the phone and if successful, request that you attend our clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. At the clinic, you will be given some health and lifestyle questionnaires to complete, and have a blood test where we will test for a range of blood markers such as inflammation, cholesterol and blood glucose.

When your initial assessments are complete, you’ll be provided with the study product capsules to take daily, which may help improve your Omega 6:3 ratio and cholesterol levels. As this study is placebo controlled, you will have a 50% chance of receiving the active study product.

During the 3-month study, you’ll be asked to attend our clinic at week 6 and month 3 to complete follow up questionnaires, have a progress interview and blood sample taken.

If you’re over 25, are generally healthy and wish to increase your Omega-3 level, we’d love to hear from you. Please register your interest by answering the Eligibility Questionnaire and completing the form on this page.
