If you are moderately overweight & want to increase muscle and lose fat, you could help medical research.

Thank you for your interest in RDC Clinical’s new study, into the effectiveness of a herbal extract shown to have beneficial effects such as reducing cholesterol, blood glucose levels and regulating appetite and metabolism. This study is examining its potential effect on reducing body fat % in moderately overweight adults.

You will receive a valuable health analysis & potentially improve your body composition.

So that we can scientifically measure the product’s effectiveness, you would be required to take the test product in capsule form over a 4-month period (16 weeks) and attend our clinic in Newstead, Brisbane, a total of 4 times. Tests include DXA body composition scans, heart rate, blood pressure, blood analysis and health questionnaires.

You will gain valuable information about your own health and lifestyle as a result of the tests, plus there is a possibility you will benefit from the study product… you may or may not be taking the active product, 50% of the study group will be taking a placebo (a harmless, inactive substance).

About the product you’ll help test… a natural herbal extract.

The product is a natural herbal extract which has been shown to exert a wide range of beneficial effects such as reducing cholesterol, blood glucose levels and regulating appetite and metabolism. This study is examining its potential effect on reducing body fat % in moderately overweight adults. The product is taken daily in capsule form.

About the study you’ll take part in… health & weight monitoring

The study will involve approximately 120 men & women, each participating for a (4 month) 16-week period.

Once enrolled in the trial, you’ll undergo a number of assessments including waist & hip circumference, and questionnaires regarding dietary intake, energy and fatigue. A DXA body composition scan and blood sample will also occur at the beginning and end of the study.

On commencement of the study you’ll be given the test product to take in capsule form.

During the 4-month study, there is a total of 4 visits required to our clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. Once at the commencement of the study, and then at weeks 5, 10 and 16.

In addition to helping advance medical research in an exciting area, as a participant in this study you will also:

  • Receive Body Composition Scans (DXA) at the commencement and conclusion of the study. A DXA scan measures muscle mass, fat mass & bone density.
  • Have a blood test at the commencement and conclusion of the study. Your blood will be analysed for glucose, insulin, cholesterol & liver function.
  • Learn important information about yourself in a number of health & lifestyle questionnaires.
  • Assist with clinical research of a potentially new product for improving body composition – reducing fat mass and increasing muscle.

Ethics approval & privacy... you'll be in safe, professional hands

This RDC Clinical study has been approved by the Bellberry Human Research Ethics Committee under Approval Number: 2016-11-832. The study is also registered on the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry under Registration Number: 12617000839303.

Trained Trial Co-ordinators will supervise your progress throughout the study. Your results in the study will be made fully available to you. Any of your personal information collected during the study will be kept in the strictest confidence and your rights as a participant are fully reserved.

About the location of the study...you'll attend clinic appointments

Our clinic is located in Doggett Street, Newstead, Brisbane.

We are walking distance from the Commercial Road Ferry Terminal & local buses, and a quick 10- minute walk from Bowen Hills train station. We also have onsite visitor parking available.
